Vancouver, oh Vancouver
So tomorrow morning, straight after breakfast I leave for two weeks to participate in local missions in Vancouver. Myself and 12 other students along with our leaders, (my sister and brother-in-law) Erin and Viktor, will be helping with Potter’s Place, an organization that works with the homeless and New Beginnings, a church that works with First Nations people and inner-city kids. It’s going to be a chance for us to step out of our tightly knit camp/Bible college bubble and put into practice what we are learning in class. I’m incredibly excited to leave our Christian isolation and enter a world that proves the significance of the grace, peace, love, security I have. These next two weeks will show that what I’m learning in class matters more than the marks that I get back.
There are 7 other students (including my lovely roommates) leaving tonight for a different mission trip to Mexico with our intern Bec. We would all appreciate your prayers for safety, unity and a chance to show God’s love to people who need it.
For another perspective on this mission trip, check Jon’s post.
